Welcome to S.C. Lee Junior High. My goal for all parents and students is to know that I care. My door is always open and I hope that we can form a working relationship to make this school year a success.
My educational background started with attending Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in family and child development. I later returned to college and received a Masters of Education degree in school counseling from Texas A&M University-Central Texas.
I am going through a BIG transition at my house. My son, Travis, is a freshman at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. My husband and I are adjusting to life at home with one teenager. My daughter, Cameron, is a sophomore at Copperas Cove High School. Cameron's passion is volleyball. She is devoted to becoming the best player she can be. My husband, Jason, is self-employed and runs his own company, Dirt Works Construction. Jason was raised in Copperas Cove and we chose to stay here and raise our family.
My first year as a teacher was at Martin Walker Elementary. I taught 3rd grade for 12 years and loved every minute of it. As an elementary teacher your students for that school year are like your own children. You spend a great amount of time with them and they take a place in your heart forever. I realized after 12 years of being a classroom teacher, I wanted to spread my wings. My heart was guiding me toward school counseling. I knew by being a school counselor I could work with various grade levels, teachers, and parents. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The relationships I build with students and maintain for several years is priceless. I know that I am making a difference in their lives and I hope that my influence guides them through high school and adult life. This is my eighth year as a school counselor and I am forever grateful that I can go to work every day knowing I might make a difference in someone's life.
It is hard for me to say this because it has gone by so fast, but this is my 20th year in education and all have been here in CCISD.
